David Payne is an baritone who has a wide  repertoire jazz standards that he performs in the like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr, Lou Rawls , Nat King Cole. He is also musician, songwriter and a true lover of Jazz, but is best known for his soulful sung jazz standard ballads.



At the age of 8 he began preparing for his life course as a performer by taking piano lessons.
In the sixth grade he joined the school band playing the trombone and later the tuba.   In Junior High he formed his first singing group and came in second place in a talent  show.  All through High school David performed with many singing groups and sang with many bands.  David's father was a self-taught man who taught him how to sing even though singing came naturally for him, his father taught him breath control and would drill him on the scales of the piano for perfect pitch.
David's father played organ and piano and sang in various nightclubs through out New York City.

Carrying on his fathers' love for singing...like father like son, he carries on the passion of song as a true balladeer.

David now resides in Salisbury, NC, and has allowed the Rowan Blues and Jazz Society,   to further push his career in the right direction since 2009.  He has performed in the Rowan Blues and Jazz Festival in 2010 and is well known in the region for performing at the renowned Black Box Theater in the Rail Walk Arts District in Downtown Salisbury, NC.

 David Payne has been a opening act for many Jazz & Blues performers
appearing in Salisbury, NC.
